Over two decades of yoga, tantra and spiritual community. Scroll through the milestones of our story — and the adventure continues.
The first Yoga classes started in a small venue in West Brompton.
Tara Yoga Centre was founded and incorporated as a not-for-profit organisation.
The first yoga classes started in Oxford.
The first London Ashram was opened in Finchley. Yoga classes were run from the ashram and small venues around Finchley and Hammersmith.

The first pilgrimage to Stonehenge, and from this date, we have been returning every Summer Solstice.


The first Summer Retreat was organised, and has continued yearly ever since.

The first Angels and Archangels week took place in London, and continues to run every year.
The second London ashram was opened in Ealing, in which we had the library and small yoga hall for running our classes.
The Yoga Course opened in Manchester.
In response to demand for teachings on Tantra, the Tantra course opened too.
The Kashmir Shaivism course opened in London.

The first Polarity Retreat was organised and has continued yearly ever since.

Started renting the space of our current Ironmonger Row Centre and began renovating the ex-office space into the Yoga centre with 3 Yoga studios.


The London Centre opened with a big celebration. From this time, the number and range of activities offered by Tara expanded to include regular workshops, men's and women's groups, free talks, free drop-in classes and social events, in addition to the yoga and tantra courses.


The first Tantra Festival was organised in Barbican Centre, and has continued to run in different venues across London yearly or bi-yearly ever since, with 200–750 participants attending across the weekend each time.

Started renting and renovating our current Cowley Road Oxford Yoga centre.


The Oxford centre opened with a special show and Open Day, and has since continued to offer our courses, workshops, talks and spiritual groups.

Library expansion - 500 books to oxford, 500 to london, from G because of touched by people's devoted work in renovation.

Classes opened in Cambridge.

Big 3 month renovation of the London centre, supported by many donors. There were daily meditations and talks on Karma Yoga to inspire our 100 volunteers.



The London Yoga centre was transformed into a broadcasting studio for all our courses and events. Over 100 webinars and free lectures were held online to support everyone during the restrictions.


All our centres re-opened for in-person activities, and the adventure continues…!
